When phone QR check-in beats a fingerprint machine
Fingerprint readers are excellent for fixed offices. For drivers, site teams and small shops, a phone page often wins.
A fingerprint terminal is reliable for one entrance and a stable roster. It is much less useful when half the team is on the road, on site, or working from a second location.
A phone check-in page solves that without installing an app: the employee opens a link, types their number and a short PIN, and the punch is recorded with a timestamp. Put the link in a QR code at the door and it behaves like a terminal for walk-ins too.
The trade-off is discipline: a PIN can be shared. For teams where that risk matters, keep the fingerprint terminal as the primary source and use phone check-in only for exceptions, with a delivery log that shows exactly who recorded what.
